NET Ambassadors Programme

The NET Ambassadors programme is a network of former interns and staff. The programme recognizes formally the links which former colleagues retain with NET, and promotes networking between former and current staff. NET Ambassadors represent NET at events, spread the word about our work home and abroad, and act as a sounding-board for development ideas.

The programme is part of NET's core view that best and innovative practice should be championed and shared, from the classroom to Whitehall.

Please see below the names and profiles of NET Ambassadors. Please contact the NET office on for further details about the programme.

Current NET Ambassadors

National Education TrustRuth Barber
Ruth was an intern with NET for three months, and enjoyed working on policy debates, the website and publications for the 6s and 7s Programme. She graduated from Exeter College, Oxford with a degree in Economics and Management and is now teaching in a secondary school near London. She enjoys rowing and is keen to get young people involved in the sport!

Lucy Crehan
Lucy studied Philosophy and Psychology at Oxford before interning with NET in 2009. She helped design the new website and wrote a paper on teacher training, and really enjoyed it! She then spent two years completing the Teach First programme at a school in Feltham. This year she is continuing to teach on a part-time basis while starting a Masters at Cambridge in Politics, Development and Democracy in Education. She is also a contributing author for Policy First - a policy document and movement by Teach First Ambassadors.

Vicky Clayton
Vicky was an intern for NET in the summer of 2011 and is currently reading Human Sciences at New College, Oxford. Whilst at NET she wrote a paper entitled 'what makes a great children's centre?' which involved visits to children's centres nationwide, and she had a wonderful time! She hopes to continue her ties with NET and will be a regular face at events.

Mary Jo Halder
Mary Jo Halder was an intern with NET. Mary Jo graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a Bachelor's degree in Political Science, History and Spanish. She currently is studying for a Masters in Comparative Politics, with an emphasis on democracy studies, at the LSE. Her main areas of study are democracy, education and social media/ technology.

Sophie Hulse
I am currently a part-time Postgraduate student, studying for a research Masters in Human Rights at the University of Manchester. I interned at NET in the summer of 2010 with Amisha Modi. My time at NET showed me how much I enjoy research in a professional setting- I had never before considered research outside of my undergraduate degree. I hope to ultimately work in the field of policy scrutiny, ideally in the field of International Aid or Aid Agencies. I aim to specialise in the role of education in developing countries, as well as famine and famine relief in the Horn of Africa, more specifically Somalia.

Amisha Modi
Amisha Modi has served as an intern at the National Education Trust and, for six months, with our Indian partners Adhyayan in Mumbai, having previously worked with a Westminster-based political consultancy. She has recently started her MSc Public Policy and Administration at the London School of Economics, to further her theoretical understanding of public service management. Her research interests include the quality and distribution of public services, and the impact of Public-Private Partnerships.

Will Power
Will worked with Spokey Wheeler on a schools project in India for an organisation called Krishi Gram Vikas Kendra, which is linked to NET. He is currently advising Adhyayan as an associate as well as currently teaching in a Primary school in London.

Gwyn Williams
After leaving NET, Gwyn spent nine months in Canada on a working holiday visa before starting a job with KPMG in Manchester. He is now coming to the end of his first year with the firm, studying for his ACA whilst working as a trainee auditor in its public sector department.
