An Early Years BLINK offers a fresh pair of experienced and professional eyes to help leaders and managers:
review their roles and responsibilities
look at how effective the Self Evaluation Form is in telling the story of the setting or school
see the setting as a visitor, parent, inspector or adviser might
bring about improvement, even in an already good nursery
ensure they are meeting the requirements of the EYFS and Ofsted
ensure their practice is fully inclusive and takes into account individual needs and abilities of children
The National Education Trust (NET) has a team of experienced early years practitioners, headteachers and former early years Ofsted inspectors who use their extensive experience
to quickly get to the heart of what makes for effective provision.
So that you can be confident you are meeting the requirements of the EYFS, we have produced a Blink framework link that illustrates what a good early years setting should look like.
During a half-day or one-day BLINK, we ask key questions and follow key trails. We share our framework with leaders and managers to help them identify their setting’s particular strengths and to highlight possible areas of focus for the Blink.
NET's personalised, written reports celebrate what settings are doing well, and offer recommendations for further development.
"EY specialists who really know their stuff!"
"I learned so much by listening to your questions and comments to staff"
"The staff you had meetings with have all commented how they were left feeling inspired and motivated"
"Professional and thoughtful approach"
Work Matters: Continuing professional development - Blink to see better
Nursery World, 2 April 2009
Early years settings are looking to a second opinion about their practice, says Karen Faux.
'EY Blink' is an early years visit and review aiming to enable all practitioners in a setting to become
better than they already are. Run by the National Education Trust, it involves an experienced early
years specialist visiting a setting for a day, to discuss areas of practice and provide a written review
for the setting to reflect and act on. Click to read the full article.
