What is 6s & 7s?
NET 6s & 7s6s & 7s is a small group, early intervention programme designed to improve the social and emotional skills of children aged six and seven so that they become independent and confident learners. This is done by helping children to develop resilience and to improve their self-esteem. Children learn to relate to others and to feel secure in forming effective relationships with peers and adults in the school setting.

How does it work?
The National Education Trust trains school staff to support children within small groups. Two staff from each school are trained over two full days.

The staff (Tutors) learn to role model effective relationship building. They use humour, empathy, body language and appropriate words and tone of voice to support each other and to ensure everyone enjoys the sessions. Children learn to appreciate the impact they, as individuals, have on others and that empathy with others fosters positive relationships and friendships.

6s & 7s runs for 6 sessions, over a course of 6 weeks. Each session is completed in 45 minutes.

A resource pack is provided for participating schools

Louise Jackson, National Projects Leader Early Years Matter, is happy to discuss the programme, its benefits and the impact on children, and to provide further information about where, when and how schools can participate.

A training day for a cluster of schools can be booked at £50 per person (minimum of 10 people).
