Reading & Literacy
Roy Blatchford and the team of Associate Directors lead on this work, from clear starting points: all children at age 11+ should have a reading age in line with their chronological age; all students at 16+ should achieve at least a grade C in English. We work with schools to develop the right mindset, resources and teaching approaches to realise those ambitious levels of attainment for pupils. We challenge tired orthodoxies and enable teachers in classrooms to look at ‘different’ ways of doing. We have developed our own unique Literacy Blink model. In the context of the 2012 Ofsted framework, we are working currently with schools to develop a SEF that explicitly covers reading, writing and communication skills from 3 – 16.
