Pegasus Wizard
As part of NET’s extended schools work, we are a partner in the Pegasus Wizard based at Pegasus Primary School, Oxford. The project is organised and funded by the school, NET and The Woodward Charitable Trust.
"It was just magic watching my daughter's face when she got the book in the post, she loved reading the book."
Parent
The vision
- Children have a touch of magic enter their lives
- The children gain a sense of the intrinsic joy in reading as a means of following their interests
- They gain a profound sense of the joy of books and reading.
What happens?
- Twice in every child’s primary school life, the Pegasus Wizard visits
- The Wizard knows what the child is passionate about and sends them a book – brand new and just for them – on that very subject
- The book arrives by post to their home and addressed to them personally
- The Wizard may visit at any time between the ages of 5 and 11, but always at a time when the child has a particular interest.
Motivational events
- A number of motivational events for children and their families, involving books, writers and storytellers, take place each school year: the Wizard remains a mystery.
